The Fisherman's Crack House

It’s starting to get cold here in Washington now but that hasn’t stopped me from getting out the past few weekends.  I haven’t been catching any big ones yet just fishing from shore, but plenty of small ones which is still fun.  It doesn’t get all that cold in the part of the state where I am compared to how it is up in the northern part of the state.  From what I hear, we won’t ever really get much snow that will stick or freezing of the lakes so I’ll be able to fish year round.

Fishing to Make a Difference

Things are looking good here so far in Washington.  After settling into my new job, I’ve been calling around to figure out what tournament circuits are available.  I contacted the FLW TBF and got the schedule for the upcoming season.  I’ll be fishing all three of the qualifying events which start in April.  I have to join a club to be eligible, so I’ve joined up with the Puyallup Hawg Hunters for the season.  I’ve got to thank the FLW TBF President here as well as Tyler Brinks for the help.

The Big Announcement

It’s time to finally make the big announcement that I’ve been holding off on.  I am happy to say that I have accepted a promotion with the Department of Defense and will be relocating to Washington State for at least the next two years.  Now one of my main priorities is getting everything situated after getting back from Korea and hitting the ground running for fishing season.  Nothing has changed in that regard, only the fact that I will be fishing events in Washington as well now.

Getting Ready for Some Fall Fishing

Things continue to be busy around here.  My boat is finally in the shop and I’m just waiting on the electronics now.  It ended up being pretty crazy getting all of our things back from overseas and I’ve been dealing with that.  Usually, the things you need like the pots, pans, etc come first so you have enough things to function.  For us, our furniture came in less than thirty days, but all of those essential goods still aren’t here.  The deadline is supposed to be forty five days, which would put us at the end of next week.

Getting Settled Back in the States

I’m finally back home in California and I’ve been busy as ever.  Between getting all our stuff shipped back from overseas, meeting with commanders back at my old job, and getting some fishing in I’ve had my hands full.  Even though it’s been crazy since getting home, I couldn’t be happier to be back.

Saying Goodbye to Korea

It’s almost time to head back home and I’m definitely ready.  I will be headed back to my old office but will be getting a promotion to a new position.  We will head out on June 30th and my first day of work back in the states will begin July 11th.  It’ll be a rush getting everything in order when we get home while trying to find some time to hit the water.  I still have plenty of things to do to my Nitro to get it ready to hit the water after having it flooded a little while back.  With getting moved back in and having all of our goods delivered back to us, I don’t know how much time I’ll really get to fish when we first make it back.

Business Trip Back to the States

It’s been a busy past few weeks.  I made a trip back to the states, unfortunately not for fishing but to taking care of some issues with my boat.  The woman keeping an eye on my boat let me know that after the relentless wind and rain in California there was now a hole in the cover.  I was told by another person that it was raining about every other day during that time frame and she never let me know if that hole was capable of being patched.  Fortunately, the other woman, Jessica Costas, was able to go take a look and has some pretty good pull with the Public Works department.

Going Back to Cali

As much as I’d love to be fishing right now, I do have some good news! Currently, I’m starting to pack up my office and get ready to head back home to my old job in California.  I’ve been on priority placement since February, so any day now I could be sent back to the States.  Things have been in kind of disarray and I thought it was best to request to go back to California.  I actually just found out my boat was flooded out yesterday.  Thankfully, I have a very special friend on the ground over there taking care of it.  When I get back I’ll still have to figure out whether to replace the carpet and other parts that were damaged or just get a new one.  I just received a gift package for my boat with a twelve and nine inch touch screen graph from Bass Pro, so I’m excited to get those of one of the boats too.

Light at the End of the Tunnel

Well, we have some light at the end of the tunnel.  Me and my family have started gathering our things to leave Korea and head back to the states.  We have a deadline of leaving by June thirtieth at the latest, but it should end up being sooner than that.  I have hesitated to strip all the line off my reels for the trip hoping the weather might break here so I can hit the water a couple more times.  I did tell the KSA that I will not be participating, but the season doesn’t begin for another month so you never know.
