Getting Ready for Some Fall Fishing

Things continue to be busy around here.  My boat is finally in the shop and I’m just waiting on the electronics now.  It ended up being pretty crazy getting all of our things back from overseas and I’ve been dealing with that.  Usually, the things you need like the pots, pans, etc come first so you have enough things to function.  For us, our furniture came in less than thirty days, but all of those essential goods still aren’t here.  The deadline is supposed to be forty five days, which would put us at the end of next week.

My family is in North Carolina where my daughter is going to college at Fayetteville State.  She is there to play basketball, but unfortunately just had to get surgery on her knee.  After injuring it, we were initially told it was a pattelar injury.  However, it ended up being a torn ACL and meniscus and required a reconstruction surgery.  The Doctor for her basketball team there ended up performing the surgery.  It’s a long recovery and hopefully she’ll be ready to get back on the court for next season.

Instead of waiting for our all of our household goods to get to California, I had some of them diverted to North Carolina.  It was a bit of a nightmare navigating all of that.  I was initially told that it would cost $13,000 which is crazy.  Thankfully, I spoke to a lady that understood the situation, so things worked out in the end.  The government will even unpack it when our stuff gets there.

I’m still getting settling in and used to my new job here.  Even with how busy it has been, I’m still sneaking out every chance I get and hitting the water.  The weather was brutally hot since July, but just recently broke after having consistent one hundred degree temperatures.  I’m sure the fish liked it.

I went out about a week ago from shore at one of my favorite spots and had a great time.  Just getting out to fish helped relieve the stress of everything going on.  I dropped my bait in a hole on the first cast and pulled out a two pounder.  Not two casts later, I caught one around four pounds and within the first seven minutes, had caught three on incoming tide.  Within fifteen minutes I had five.  I’ll be heading out every chance I get especially since the weather might finally be breaking.

I’m very excited for next year.  With everything going on right now with moving back to California and starting the new job, there hasn’t been much time to fish any tournaments, but that will change very soon.  My main thing is to be ready by January to hit it hard and I have a major surprise coming very soon that I’ll be announcing.
