Another Year in Korea

Posted by eddie on March 4, 2015

It looks like I’ll be fishing another season in the KSA.  My work detail was extended until November of this year which will enable me to have another shot at tournament fishing in Korea.  It’s definitely bittersweet because in one way it’s an amazing opportunity, but in another way I’m really missing fishing back home and around the U.S. in general.

I’m getting ready to kick things off here.  The first event of the season is only a few weeks away on March 29th.  It has been extremely cold for the area and some of the lakes have frozen over.  The lake we’ll be starting off at is a bit south and luckily has not frozen over.  I can tell you one thing; I’ll definitely be sporting my Frabill Extreme Weather Suit in that event.

This week is a great one.  Monday was the big fishing expo over here.  It was an excellent opportunity for me to represent my sponsors and specifically Seaguar line that were set up at the show.  It is a big deal over here and gets some great media coverage.  It’s basically their version of ICast.  Last year I missed out, so I’m glad I was able to go this year.  I have to say I have the best sponsors in the industry.  Even after leaving the states for work, they have stuck with me.  I’ve resigned with most of my sponsors from last season already.

I’ve been taking full advantage of the down time this winter restocking tackle.  I’ve pretty much replaced all of my rods with T. Allen Rods which perform tremendously.  I’m already planning to get out and do some fun fishing.  The weather should be similar to what we’ll face come tournament time so I want to try some Alabama Rig and Lipless Crank to get my rhythm down with those.

I’ll also be taking an emergency leave to go to Germany.  My brother in law is in a coma.  My wife and family have all been shaken up and it’s important that we go see him.  It’s been a tough stretch, but getting ready for fishing season has definitely helped out.
