The Fisherman's Crack House

It’s starting to get cold here in Washington now but that hasn’t stopped me from getting out the past few weekends.  I haven’t been catching any big ones yet just fishing from shore, but plenty of small ones which is still fun.  It doesn’t get all that cold in the part of the state where I am compared to how it is up in the northern part of the state.  From what I hear, we won’t ever really get much snow that will stick or freezing of the lakes so I’ll be able to fish year round.

Every chance I get, I’ve been pulling my fishing gear out and getting it ready.  I finally did receive my delivery from Korea and have my new trolling motor and fish finders ready to rig up once I get my boat.  It’s going to be a little while longer before I can get my boat, but I’ll be ready for the season – I can guarantee that.  I have another meeting coming up with my new club soon.  The club members actually suggested a good place to get my boat rigged once I get it here; it’s already been a good experience thus far with those guys.

There is still a lot on the horizon for 2017.  I’m still finishing up scheduling all of my boat/tackle shows for the winter.  I actually was just writing some emails to the NEMA show in Minnesota since it’ll be in March.  I’ve also got a new place for me to get some of my lures.  My wife is going to start making them and has already ordered some supplies from the Jann’s Netcraft catalog.  She’s wanted to start making baits and lures for some time now and she’ll be pouring some plastic worms here very soon.  I bought the mold from an old shakyhead worm D&M stopped making and can’t wait to have some of those made up.  It’s got a great action and buoyancy.

I was just talking to an old friend of mine, Dick Luke, who is an excellent guide down in the Kissimmee area.  I went out with him years ago and let me tell you, he put me on some fish.  We’ve stayed in touch and his wife actually works for a tackle shop called the Fisherman’s Candy Store which I think is more like the Fisherman’s Crack House.  I mentioned the worm mold I have to them because it is dynamite in Florida too.

I’m preparing to head to North Carolina to visit my family soon.  I’m scheduled to fly out on the 16th and I’m excited for that.  I’ve already been looking to see what lakes are close by.  I’m also planning to help out with an MWR Bass Tournament with the military installation here.  MWR, for those of you that don’t know, stands for Morale Welfare Recreation and we’ll be putting on a military tournament.  There have been a couple done in Georgia already and this one should be pretty big.  They’ve asked me to assist them and I’ve offered to do anything I can.  However, on tournament day I don’t know how much I’ll be able to help during the event because I’ll be fishing it as well.  Anyways, I’m really looking forward to helping out in any way I can.
